Hornbeam

Carpinus betulus

Due to its characteristic hardness and the presence of a frequent counter thread, it is difficult to work. For this reason, its use has been largely replaced over time by more modern materials. In addition to the use of nails and screws for assembly, pre-drilling is also recommended. It is normally used for making tools and utensils, but it can also be used as a substitute for ebony if it is dark stained.
